22/04/12 Cranberry Moss Sections
For those who are new to the group or looking to join, due to waiting lists we recently started two new sections of Beavers and Cubs. These are being held at Cranberry Moss Community Center in Pennyburn on a Tuesday night by a new leadership team. If you are intrested in joining these sections or any of ther others you can contact us by visiting the Contact Us page. The new sections started off with small numbers but due to a successful night we fully expect their numbers to grow too!

21/04/12 Group EGM
There will be a Group EGM held in the scouts hall this Tuesday night at 7pm. This is in relation to the proposed changes to the membership fee's and weekly subs payments. To made the administration easier from a section and group point of view, the group is proposing to introduce a monthly payment by standing order of £6/month starting in September 2012 which will cover annual membership and weekly subscriptions and furthermore guarantee not to increase this for at least four years. From this, the group treasurer will pay the annual membership fees to SHQ and section leaders will be provided with the funds to run their sections. Although this would be new to our group it is operated by many groups throughout the country but as it is a major change from how we operate at present, we are going to hold an EGM on Tuesday 24th April at 7.00pm so that all parents can seek clarification of the proposals and approve the change which we hope will come into effect from September 2012. The EGM is open to all parents to attend and you are welcomed to do so. There is also a letter which will be issued to each section member, you can get this letter by clicking here.

08/04/12 Local Scouting is Growing!
"Kilwinning Scouts are starting a new Beaver colony and Cub Pack in Pennyburn at the Cranberry Moss Community Center on TUESDAY 17th April. A new leadership team headed up by Rhone Cooper will run Beavers from 6.00 - 7.00 and then cubs from 7.15 - 8.30.

With our existing beaver colony running two sessions and us running two cub packs - we are currently running at capacity with no more room! Scouting in Kilwinning is a success. The creation of a another colony and pack is an attempt to clear the waiting list and offer scouting to the ever growing number of interested young people.

We wish Rhone and her team every success and look forward to meeting them at forthcoming group events."

24/01/12 Census Returns - A message from the Group Scout Leader
The Group has completed and returned for the 2012 membership census and has again shown the increase in numbers to another record level.

Numbers increased across all the sections with Beaver, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts all showing an increase over last years numbers. Group numbers increased to 155 up from 146 last year which consolidates out position as the largest group in North Ayrshire and Arran and one of, if not the, largest group in the South West Region.

The Strength of the group is due to the high quality of leaders operation in all sections within the group and the dedication they display within their sections.
